This was Lucie’s second VBAC with Birthtalk, and her second time having Debby Gould from Birthtalk as her doula.

“Once the head was out she told me to pant the shoulders out, so with the next contraction I cautiously pushed and the next thing I knew my midwife told me to reach down and pick up my baby. I have tears rolling down my face as I write that. It was amazing and that pain suddenly disappeared and meant nothing – talk about a high! I reached down and picked up my beautiful baby. As I pulled our baby out of the water I pulled the little legs apart and looked at my husband and said, “oh my God, you’re not going to believe it, it’s a girl!” We both cried, both with the emotion of the birth, the joy of delivering our child and the thrill of discovering we had a daughter. It was overwhelming. I couldn’t have asked for more from the birth. It was an amazing experience. Amelie will be our last child, and what a way to finish off my birthing of children, just incredible! What a RUSH!”
